Studio FEIFALTER

I am a custom tailor and have a deep passion for design as well as a great curiosity about textile objects. I am fascinated by the details of the materials, the possibilities of form and pattern construction, and the natural appeal of a finished product. My work is always rooted in the craft of tailoring and a deep interest in art.

At my studio, FEIFALTER, in Munich, I work on individual projects. A harmonious design with a precise fit and detailed craftsmanship are very important to me. I combine a sustainable mindset with a love of experimentation and artistic inspiration. The traditional craft of tailoring always forms the basis of my work, because, as Kafka once said, what would art be without the foundation of craftsmanship?

Bespoke Tailoring

We get together to talk about the occasion, the pattern, the color range and the fabric. Together, we create a design that suits you. You can bring your own fabric, choose one from my archive or we select a fabric together. After taking your measurements, I create your individual pattern. In the following fittings, we adjust all the details precisely and optimize the fit.

Materials

The focus is on short distances. I source fabrics and ingredients from retailers and manufacturers in Germany and Europe. I only use high-quality materials and certified fabrics that are suitable for their respective purposes.
(Great importance is placed on high-quality materials and certified fabrics that are suitable for their intended use.)
Besides, my beloved button collection goes back many decades. It’s a colorful mix of buttons from long-worn garments, my grandmother’s button boxes and little treasures.

Embroidering, printing, weaving, knotting...

The magic of all craft techniques lies in the planned yet surprising results. All processes of handwork are always creative, thoughtful, and intuitive. Fine irregularities give each piece its own unique energy and identity.D

Upcycling?

Reusing old clothes, fabrics and other materials means much more than just upcycling to me. The most beautiful form of sustainability is creating something special from existing items: a favorite piece given a new look, an heirloom modernized or a unique item made from historic fabric.

Sustainability

Even with certified products and short supply chains, I cannot fully guarantee the sustainability of my materials. My primary goal is to use up the fabrics and ingredients in my existing stock. With every new project, I ask myself the following question: Which materials are already available? Which ones need to be added, and is that necessary?
